Volunteer Spotlight: Adrienne Osmun

Clear Path for Veterans strives to recognize those that go above and beyond to give back to the Veteran and military community as well as support the Clear Path mission. This month we would like to highlight one of our volunteers and Project Consultants, Adrienne Osmun.

Adrienne first learned of Clear Path in the summer of 2017 after moving to the area from Naperville, Illinois. After making such a major move from the area she had called home for twenty years, Adrienne was introduced to Clear Path via her husband, a Navy Veteran, who had been told about Clear Path’s programs and services by his employer.

By the autumn of 2017, Adrienne was actively involved in the Warriors Working program where she continues to work directly with Veterans, transitioning military members, and their spouses who are seeking career counseling in areas of resume writing and job search strategies. Since then she has expanded her role at Clear Path to become a Project Consultant for Clear Path’s data management system and technology buildout.

When asked what her favorite part of volunteering at Clear Path was Osmun said, “I have several “favorite” things about Clear Path because it is truly an incredible place, but I would say that having the opportunity to walk Veterans through a process of discovering and marketing their unique qualifications and skills for the civilian workforce is at the top of the list. I have found that when patches, stripes, chevrons, and ribbons are removed, it can leave a hole in how a Veteran defines themselves professionally. Helping them rediscover the relevance of their skills and contribution to a civilian job market ends up being so much more than just writing a resume or identifying transferable skills.”

Osmun went on to say, “There are Veterans in every community and with needs that are so dynamic and diverse. Their service is priceless and yet, they appreciate even the smallest acts of kindness. Never underestimate what you can offer. There is an infinite number of ways you can help Veterans, but it starts with connecting them with a place like Clear Path!”

We would like to thank Adrienne for her continued work with Clear Path and the time she has dedicated to the Warriors Working and Peer Program. She has been a tremendous support and asset and we are so thankful for her and other volunteers like her that donate their time and energy to ensure that our Veteran community is thriving.
