Clear Path for Veterans Receives Grant Award from Disabled Veterans National Foundation

Chittenango, New York – October 12, 2023 – Clear Path for Veterans is honored to announce that it has received a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) for $22,000, which will fund its flagship Canine Program, providing service dogs at no cost to veterans seeking increased independence.

Ryan Woodruff, National Director of Canine Programs at Clear Path for Veterans said, “Suicide rates among veterans are on the rise, and it is our duty as citizens of this great nation to do everything we can to improve the quality of life for those who served. Funding awarded from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation will be used to support the health and wellness of service dogs during training. We believe that our canines in training deserve the highest standards of care possible, and this funding will contribute towards that.”

Joseph VanFonda (USMC Sgt.Maj. Ret.), CEO of the Disabled Veterans National Foundation said, "We are proud to support Clear Path for Veterans and their Canine Program. Service dogs play a crucial role in improving the lives of veterans, providing them with increased independence and support. By funding the health and wellness of service dogs during training, we are investing in the well-being of both veterans and their furry companions. Together, we can make a significant impact in enhancing the quality of life for those who have served our nation."

Since becoming an accredited member with Assistance Dogs International (ADI), Clear Path has become the leading provider of service dogs in the Central New York Region. Meeting the highest standards of excellence for both canines and veterans remains an integral part of their mission. As a recipient of the Canine Program, veterans and their families are provided access to other supportive programming including career services, peer and family support, wellness modalities, and educational workshops, with access to Clear Path’s 78 acre natural landscape in the heart of Chittenango, NY.
